What do I have to know before starting my exam via online supervision (Proctoring)?

What is an online exam with ProctorExam?

An online exam with ProctorExam is an exam that you take from home under online supervision (proctoring). During your exam session, a proctor/examiner follows you in real time via the ProctorExam web application on your computer and via the ProctorExam camera app on your smartphone.

The preparation for your exam session follows a self-guided system process. A practical “Help guide” is also always available. If you experience a technical issue, you can also open a chat with a support team via that function. ProctorExam and its support functions use English as the working language.

Below you will find a series of frequently asked questions, but you can also download this practical guide in checklist format:

What technical requirements apply to the online exam?

You take the exam on a computer or laptop; tablets are not allowed. Your webcam, microphone and internet connection must work properly. Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as your browser. Also download the ProctorExam app on your smartphone in advance, as it will serve as a second camera next to your desk during the exam. During the system check, you will also install a Chrome extension as an addition to your browser.

What is the system check and when should I complete it?

On the Thursday before your exam, you will receive an e-mail with the subject “Please register”, containing a link to the system check. It is best to complete this check immediately, using the same setup as on the exam day. During this system check, you will also install a Chrome extension as an addition to your browser. After a successful check, you will receive a new e-mail with the subject “You are now ready to take your exam”. This e-mail contains the ProctorExam link that will be active at the agreed exam time.

How should I prepare just before the online exam starts?

Fifteen minutes before the start, go to a quiet, well-lit room where you are alone and cannot be disturbed; also close the door. Your desk must be completely clear according to the clean-desk principle, with the exception of your identity card, which should be ready for checking. Your smartphone must be fully charged and placed next to your desk as a second camera. Close all applications except the e-mail containing the exam link.

How do I start my online exam?

You start the exam by opening the ProctorExam link in the e-mail. Once the session has started, also close Outlook or your e-mail program. You then complete the ProctorExam onboarding, including the identity check and room scan via your smartphone. After the onboarding, the page that takes you to the MyFebelfinAcademy exam platform appears. You receive your personal exam token via the proctor chat. Enter this token and start the exam as soon as the Start button for your module(s) appears shortly afterwards.

When will I receive my results or certificate?

After each module, you will see the result obtained, but it still needs to be validated by Febelfin Academy. Within 48 hours after the exam, your results and your certificate will be published in your MyFebelfinAcademy account.

What is not allowed during an online exam?

During the exam, you may not wear earbuds or headphones. Making recordings, taking screenshots or copying exam questions is prohibited. No other websites, applications or browser tabs may be open. Avoid talking during the exam and do not leave the room, not even for a toilet visit.

What should I do in case of a technical problem during an online exam?

If you experience a technical problem during the exam, first use the Help guide function via the question mark on the right-hand side of your screen. If the problem persists, also open the chat with the support team via that function. This support is provided in English. In addition, proactively report your problem to the proctor via the proctor chat. If the problem cannot be resolved because your organisation’s digital environment blocks the ProctorExam application, we refer you to the FAQ question: “What if my organisation’s digital environment still blocks the ProctorExam application?”
